Long Point Solar Delivers 168 MW into ERCOT as Texas Power Demand Surges

MN8 Energy’s 168 MWdc project in Brazoria County brings new generation capacity into one of North America’s fastest-growing power markets.

Speed as a competitive advantage

Speed to commercial operation is the new currency in power markets where interconnection queues and equipment lead times are a critical path for customers’ business plans.

For Long Point Solar, speed to power was a priority. Receiving its Notice to Proceed in July of 2024, the project hit COD in early 2026. Its execution record is evidence of what a well-capitalized, operationally disciplined developer can deliver.

By the numbers

Long Point’s output speaks for itself. The project is expected to generate approximately 241.753 MWh annually—enough to serve the equivalent of approximately 18,400 average Texas households.

Location matters

ERCOT is one of the fastest-growing power markets in North America. Demand driven by infrastructure buildout, industrial reshoring, and an accelerating wave of data center development are adding significant load growth for the grid to meet. New generation, sited where demand is concentrated and interconnected, is what bridges the gap.

Long Point Solar is that bridge. 168 MW in Brazoria County, southwest of Houston, delivering into a load zone where power is needed and structured to run for decades. The county’s combination of high solar irradiance, land availability, and proximity to transmission infrastructure makes it a natural location for utility-scale generation.

The big picture

Long Point Solar is a proof point that domestic technology, institutional capital, and time-certain delivery can come together at scale on a grid as dynamic and demanding as ERCOT. As load growth continues to grow in Texas and beyond, this is the execution model that matters.
