Position overview:

MN8 Solutions is seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Field Director to lead the execution of EHS programs, policies, and objectives across field operations. This operationally focused role is critical to ensuring compliance, reducing risk, and embedding a proactive EHS culture throughout MN8 Solutions and Asset Management teams. The EHS Field Director will implement and maintain programs that include risk assessment and mitigation, Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) prevention and learning, environmental site assessments, waste reporting processes, EHS management systems, performance data tracking and analysis, auditing, and contractor oversight.

Reporting to the Vice President of EHS in a matrix organization, this role contributes to MN8’s strategic EHS vision while tailoring programs to meet the unique needs of each business unit. Success requires strong collaboration with MN8 Solutions and Asset Management leaders, EHS Systems & Intelligence Managers, EHS Program Directors and corporate stakeholders. This position offers significant opportunities to influence EHS culture and practices across the organization.

A successful EHS Field Director is a strategic leader and change agent who ensures compliance while driving systemic improvements across MN8’s field operations. Key attributes include:

  • Technical Mastery: Anticipates EHS risks and proactively implements scalable solutions. Guides teams to design and execute systemic changes that improve safety and environmental performance.
  • Leadership Impact: Builds leadership capability by coaching directors/managers and coaching them on how to deploy EHS within their organizations. Contributes to enterprise-level EHS strategy and fosters accountability at all levels.
  • Process Improvement: Identifies inefficiencies before they become issues and leads cross-functional initiatives to fix gaps in EHS and establish standard operating procedures. Influences corporate systems, tools, programs, and mechanisms in EHS across the lifecycle of MN8.
  • Execution Excellence: Delivers results on time and within scope while coaching others how to execute EHS effectively. Works quickly to manage risks with scrappy solutions, while working with program and systems partners to establish structured and sustainable EHS field elements.
  • Culture Champion: Acts as a visible ambassador of MN8’s values, turning challenges into opportunities for growth. Creates an environment of fairness, efficiency, and continuous learning while modeling a performance mindset.
  • Business Stewardship: Demonstrates clear contribution to MN8’s bottom line by aligning EHS initiatives with business growth and operational reliability. Identifies and eliminates waste and participates in strategic efforts that enhance client experience.

As the EHS Field Director, you will:

  • Drive innovation and build new processes rather than maintain existing ones; thrive in a fast-paced environment that demands strategic prioritization and decisive action.
  • Perform comprehensive environmental, health, and safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and lead the development and oversee implementation of corrective solutions.
  • Identify and help mitigate EHS risks through the hierarchy of controls, site assessments, hazard reviews, and metrics reporting to proactively manage risks during asset acquisition, handover from construction, and decommissioning phases.
  • Assess the effectiveness of EHS initiatives within MN8 Solutions and Asset Management, ensuring that both lagging and leading indicators drive performance improvement and that the MN8 EHS culture is integrated into the business.
  • Identify and address gaps in EHS training programs in collaboration with training teams to ensure compliance with legal requirements and MN8 Solutions standards, supporting team member competency. Define training criteria and content and coordinate delivery with Corporate and Business Unit training teams.
  • In the event of unplanned incidents, the EHS Field Director will ensure the business thoroughly investigates hazards, conditions, and incidents to determine root causes and implement appropriate corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.  They will oversee the incident investigation process and utilize industry investigation tools.
  • Develop, review, and update EHS policies, procedures, training programs, and other systems as necessary specific to MN8 Solutions, and influence the EHS systems and programs across the company. The EHS Field Director must work effectively in a matrixed, team-oriented environment and help define and drive an EHS culture and mindset across all areas of the business.
  • Technical excellence across EHS disciplines underpins the role’s effectiveness. The Field Director must maintain current knowledge of regulations, standards, and industry best practices while anticipating emerging trends and requirements. You will provide technical guidance to implementation teams and ensure MN8 Solutions and Asset Management meet both regulatory requirements (including Environmental and OSHA reporting i.e. Tier II reporting) and organizational needs.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • 10+ years of EHS experience, with demonstrated success in program deployment using ISO45001 and ISO14001 architecture, preferably within the power generation, distribution, transmission, or utility industries.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Safety, Engineering, or a related field is required, and relevant professional certifications (CSP/ASP/SMS) are highly valued.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, prioritization skills, interpersonal skills to build trust, and excellent written and spoken communication skills are crucial.
  • Proven ability to drive change across distributed locations is also necessary.
  • Ability to regularly travel (50-60% domestic and international).
