EV Project Engineer – Electrical

As the EV Project Engineer, you will:

  • Review of 30%, 90%, As-built/IFC engineering drawings packages primarily from an Electrical and (Network) Communications lens, but also including Civil, Structural details. 
  • Reviewing technical documentation (EPC scope, surveys, equipment specifications, warranties, electrical and thermal studies, etc.) during due diligence, design and construction stage. 
  • Review critical project documentation including Geotech, ESA, Wetlands report and Interconnection Agreements, System Impact studies, hydrology report and corrosion reports during project engineering cycle. 
  • Review and conduct Engineering calculations (NEC maximum system voltage, conductor sizing, overcurrent protection sizing, utility disconnect requirements, voltage drop, and conduit sizing). 
  • Prepare value engineering and risk analysis. 
  • Review and design optimized EV Charging system layouts, conduit pathways (concept), equipment (behind the meter)sizing & layouts with clearances and utility interconnections. 
  • Own and maintain internal deliverable for tracking secondary switchboard specifications and ordering in collaboration with Project Development, Procurement and Construction teams. Coordinate externally with equipment vendors throughout design and manufacturing process including submittal drawing reviews, utility compliance. Some primary service designs may be required. Lead equipment sourcing and delivery process from beginning to end, ensuring on time delivery when Construction team requires onsite. 
  • Direct and regularly interact with third party engineering provider /Owner’s Engineer or EPC and supervise the work from such resources in the development of IFC drawing sets. 
  • Maintain existing Design Standards housing all technical components with periodic updates as external inputs require. Train non-design teams on Design Standards and latest version updates that impact their function (Sales, Construction, etc.) 
  • Support technical RFI and Changer Order requests by doing technical evaluation. 
  • Support Commissioning Team upon the delivery of new built sites. 
  • Be the leader in enforcing installation quality and MN8 standards building practices for new installs. 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key equipment suppliers in the EV Market as well as regularly evaluate their product pipeline. 
  • Identify and evaluate technical enhancement opportunities working in conjunction with Asset Management, Technical Operations and other MN8 teams. 
  • Support Project Management Office (PMO) team in the development and improvement of technical related processes. 

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • 2-3 years of experience in Electrical Engineering with excellent understanding of project technical characteristics of commercial deployments ~ 1MW and beyond. EV Engineering and/or Utility-scale Solar experience preferred but not required. 
  • Engineering BSc Degree required; Masters preferred. 
  • Expert knowledge of renewable energy engineering documents. 
  • Working knowledge of key renewable energy document types: project development schedule process flow, vendor agreements and permits. 
  • Proficient in: AutoCAD, , Excel, Word, Bluebeam, Smartsheet. Salesforce/ SiteTracker or similar Project management tool a plus. 
  • Very organized and able to multitask effectively with a workload of 30-40 projects at different stages of Development. 
  • Good communicator both written and verbal skill. 
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve, escalate issues appropriately and determination to complete difficult projects. 
  • Demonstrated ability to improve processes and create efficiencies. 
  • Highly developed sense of professional ethics and commitment to quality. 
  • Ability to work both on a team as well as independently. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with tact and diplomacy. 
  • Some field travel required, estimated up to 10% of time.
